Mr. Jose Fuentes received his degree in Computer Science in Carlos III University of Madrid (2003). Now, he’s CCO at The REUSE Company, accountable of the definition of Requirements Quality Suite. For many years he has been involved in the definition of tools, techniques and methodologies aimed to increase the quality and the reusability of both software and system engineering projects. Both working for The REUSE Company, but also as an Associate Teacher at University Carlos III of Madrid, he has leaded different workpackages in different European projects such as CRYSTAL or AUTOSoft. He’s member of the Spanish Chapter of INCOSE.

Brigitte Daniel-Allegro is Senior Advisor In Systems Thinking, Dependability, Systems Engineering within Penser Systeme & Systems Thinking.
The traditional document-based engineering approach spreads information across many different domains and various format files, such as textual documents, drawings, spreadsheets, or presentation slides, and thus constantly endeavors with increasing demands of system complexity, variability, team productivity, and quality. Engineering disciplines, such as mechanical, electrical, or controls engineering, utilize models as integral parts of their practice, but these models still remain isolated.
The Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) approach emphasizes the need of a coherent system model to integrate all the aspects of design and provide a shared view of the system, which can drive communication and coordination across the teams. This accelerates system development lifecycles as well as helps to ensure consistency and traceability across requirements, design, and verification.
This presentation highlights the benefits of the MBSE approach, state-of-the-art MBSE tooling capabilities, discusses current engineering trends and near future directions.
Nerijus Jankevicius is a Product Manager at No Magic Inc, managing and envisioning the Model-Based Systems Engineering environment development. During 17 years at No Magic, he was actively and deeply involved into development of MagicDraw, SysML plugin and Cameo Simulation Toolkit, helping to make them one of the most recognized MBSE solutions on the market.
During more than 10 years, Nerijus also contributed to UML and SysML standards working groups at Object Management Group (OMG), becoming one of the leading UML/SysML experts and consultants, one of the first OMG Certified Advanced UML 2.0 Professionals in Europe.
Nerijus delivered workshops and trainings in Systems Modeling and Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) at major facilities in research and industry like NASA/JPL, Bombardier Transportation, GE Transportation, Kongsberg Defense & Aerospace, Pratt & Whitney Canada, BAE Systems and MITRE, gave various presentations and talks at international conferences.
The Verification, Validation and Testing activities were part of the humanity and in particular way of engineer’s community well before the Systems Engineering elicitation.
An immense literature of methodologies and application cases is available to specific and, less diffused, to general purposes.Systematic thinking aggregates naturally these activities into its SE technical processes enhancing reciprocal value with and by means of the interactions with all the other technical and managerial processes.
Increasing challenges driven by systems complexity, cost and time development time reductions could be compensated by advancements in testing facilities, modelling, methodological and technological advancements.
Recent ISO/IEC/IEEE 15288:2015, INCOSE. 2015. Systems Engineering Handbook: A Guide for System Life Cycle Processes and Activities, version 4.0 and SEBoK v 1.5.1 recent updates highlight the lately emerged relations with all the other Systems engineering processes.
This lecture proposes, starting from the past forecasts, through highlights of the present challenges and leveraging on ready and nearly available opportunities, one view the state of the art of the VVT activities.
Issues and constrains are proposed and success cases are mentioned for sharing, collect comments and suggestions in order to increase the holistic viewpoint in a value-based application of the well established and opportunistic application of VVT practice.
Prof. Dr. Carlo Leardi graduated 1989 in electronic engineering in Genova Italy. His professional background starts with quality assurance responsibility evolving in the last years to full verification, validation and testing commitment within complex systems development deployment projects in the following areas: automotive, freight railways and packaging industry. As a passion before and today as a full job, he is dealing with Quantitative Systems Engineering on a day-to-day application and coaching of a full range of statistical and simulation methodologies supporting the decisional process. He published several articles in Engineering and Systems Engineering journals. He is one of the founders and past President of the INCOSE Italian Chapter and of AISE. He teaches in the Systems Engineering Masters in Tor Vergata and ForteMare in La Spezia.

MBSE activities provide very high value during the design of complex systems: as a design language, as an early Validation & Verification method, and as a risk mitigation strategy. When the design is finished, and the final product delivered to the client, are MBSE activities reaching a dead-end?
We will show how MBSE can still be applied after Entry-Into-Service of an Aircraft, in the aeronautic sector, by showing examples and new strategies to be developed, like reusing models for troubleshooting purpose, or applying MBSE to post Entry-Into-Service modifications.

Marco Ferrogalini belongs today to Bombardier. For the last 13 years he has been involved in complex vehicles system engineering activities, especially on the systems development and integration on sport cars (Ferrari and Maserati) and on trains (mainly high speed and very high speed) changing different railway companies (ADTranz, Ansaldo, Alstom).
Firstly he was in charge of the vehicle integration, development and testing activities of a new Maserati sport car. Later he changed sector to railway transportation and he led the system integration activities during the concept phase of a new high speed train developed jointly by Ansaldo and Bombardier and then guided the System Integration department at Alstom Transport.
Marco is now Chief System Engineering, in charge of Alstom Transport System Engineering strategy & road-map, trainings definitions, and promotion of new SE improvements such as extended MBSE approach.
Despite the above professional activities, Marco remains dynamic in social networking leading the MBSE Technical Committee of the INCOSE French chapter (AFIS) and contributing to the INCOSE WGs Transportation and SE Vision 2025. Also in term of transfer of know-how to the young people, he teaches "System Engineering" courses and training programs at different Engineering schools. He graduated from the Politecnico di Torino in Italy.
Since January 2013 he’s certified as INCOSE CSEP.
